A month after Knox Memorial Methodist Church approved the mission extension project in May 1952, a quonset hut believed to be the Cordero Chapel at Knox was transferred to Aurora Boulevard in June to be the place of worship of the Quezon City settlers. On the 13th of July that year, the local congregation was founded. Pastor Federico Sarenas preached the first sermon in Tagalog for the first Sunday worship service. Included among those who worshiped that day were the following families: Lorenzana, Velasco, Gacula, Lizano, Verzosa, Vinluan, Tovera, Espiritu, Silva, Quiocho, Delayon, Maghanoy, Tan, Balderama, and other unnamed families. The Lorenzana family donated the first church piano.
